Okay, so you've taken a slider on your motorcycle in the rain and no one eagerly stops their car and jumps out to help you lift it back up again. That's where the after-the-fact airbag comes in. You slip in under your bike, pop a tab, and the airbag inflates, putting your bike upright again. The airbag would have a front and back section so you could step in between it long enough to put the kickstand down, deflate the bags and store them away. If they were sold in rolled-up versions you could probably carry 3 or 4 on a trip. If you drop your bike more times than that it probably won't be worth saving.

Built into kickstand [csea, Nov 27 2008]

You could have them pre-attached to each side of the bike ready to use, like a sort of self-righting mechanism. Needs a catchier abbreviation, though. [+]

Wouldn't it be simpler to have some sort of jack built into the bike? I'm thinking some sort of telescopic arm that can be cranked out to lever the machine upright. It could also be argued that designing a two-wheeled machine which is scuppered if it obeys the law of gravity is a mistake, but that's another matter.

Gets my vote. I think my biggest challenge was when I was riding in Denver on a few inches of packed snow, and some youngster knocked me over with a snowball.

I couldn't pick it up without either my feet or bike sliding. I had to push it to the curb and brace the bike against it.

A more fun solution would be small explosive charges with just enough power to throw the bike upright.
